BROKEN ARM
My best friend, Joe, broke his left arm on the job last week. He works as a construction worker, so he obviously can’t do his job without the use of his left arm. Joe’s manager told him if he did not find a replacement to fill in his position by working as temporary staffing within a week, then he would be fired permanently. Joe told me that his manager is normally a nice guy, but he is very serious when things come down to business. I am currently unemployed and looking for a new job, but I am not trained as a construction worker in any way. Joe turned to me for help with filling in for him with a temporary staffing position so that he could return to his job in two months, when the doctor told him that his arm would be healed. Being the nice, and in need of money, guy that I am, I accepted his offer. I have no idea what to do as a construction worker, but if it helps Joe keep his job, I guess that I could do it. There is no “introduction to construction working” class that I would be able to take or anything like that. Joe will try to teach me all that he can before I have to start the job, but after that, I will be on my own.
