I think one of the biggest advantages of home security is being able to protect your loved ones. I feel strongly about it because my little brother was kidnapped. It's a whole long story that I don't really want to get into because it brings back some painful memories, but it's why I think people should never take the safety of their home for granted. I think every measure to protect your loved ones needs to be put in place. Fortunately my brother wasn't harmed but I think it still traumatized him quite a bit. I think he still thinks about it a lot, especially because he has two of his own sons now. They're not old enough to really take care of themselves and watch out for themselves yet. I think my parents learned their lesson after that. They were the type who would leave their door unlocked. They were really trusting people and that's how it happened.  And you know who turned out to be the kidnapper? It was actually the neighbor that they'd been friends with for over ten years. They thought they were really close friends with this man and he turned out to be a complete stranger. It's the shocking and surprising things like that in life that require that extra vigilance and protection.
